SUMMARY:Granite Lecture and Film Series Presents Two World War II Films
DESCRIPTION:During World War II\, Barre\, like many other industrial towns\, transitioned the local workforce to contribute to the war effort. This week\, the Vermont Granite Museum will present two films showcasing industrial activities in Barre during World War II. The first film follows several businessmen as they travel to the various companies producing supplies for the war. The second feature\, filmed in November 1942\, details the efforts made by 1\,000 Barre residents to tear up unused trolley tracks\, a project reclaiming an estimated 80 tons of steel. Questions and discussion to follow. \n
